THE SHIPAIR ORGANISATION

SHIPAIR  was first registered in January 1989.

The focus of operations was to provide a service to the International Freight Forwarding Industry by means of a courier documentation service from Perth International Airport to Fremantle and return.

This was extended to setting up an Australian Customs Licensed Bond Store for the holding of incoming International  airfreight prior to clearance by Australian Customs and the Department of Agriculture.  With the Australian Customs Licensed Bond Store License, it enabled us to move freight from the airlines bond store to SHIPAIR'S bond store saving the Freight Forwarder on freight storage at the airlines.  The airline charge storage after 24 hours and the benefit of SHIPAIR was three free days for before storage starts.

The delivery of cleared goods was then delivered mainly by the small SHIPAIR fleet of vehicles.  The bond store was later expanded to hold Sea Freight Imports and accreditation given the the Department of Agriculture as a Quarantine premise.  In 1996 SHIPAIR was approved as a Regulated Air Cargo Agent (RCA), which allowed SHIPAIR to be truly recognised as a leader the the provision of services for all import and export requirements.

SHIPAIR is the only truly independent bond store operating in Western Australia.  One other independent bond store has IATA accreditation which we consider to be a conflict of interest.

SHIPAIR'S client base is wholly reliant on the customs clearance agents and airfreight/seafreight forwarding agents.  All clients have been extremely loyal having been with us from SHIPAIR's inception.

In 2006 we purchased the first of six container sidelifters to further service clients in container cartage.  Our container delivery fleet now consists of five company owned prime movers and six sidelifters.  A further eight support trailers are company owned, ranging from 20' skeletal trailers through to 40' flat-top and 40' tautliner trailers enabling SHIPAIR to provide a transport solution tailored to specific needs.

To further enhance our abilities and professionalism, SHIPAIR has a full Main Roads WA Heavy Vehicle accreditation.

SHIPAIR has arrangements with three separate sidelifter and prime-mover rental companies to supply additional equipment on demand.

The company's growth has been mainly achieved by word of mouth over the years and has been confined to the import/export industry.
